A 50-year-old Granbury man was seriously injured Saturday when a powered hang glider he was piloting crashed in Cleburne, officials said.

Barry Melton suffered “multiple fractures” and was transported via air ambulance from the crash scene, in the 400 block of West Vaughan Road in Cleburne, according to Senior DPS Trooper Dub Gillum and the Cleburne Police Department.

Officials were notified of the incident shortly before 6 p.m. The craft was classified as an ultralight according to Public Affairs Officer Lynn Lunsford of the Federal Aviation Administration.

The craft came down in an oil field area controlled by Chesapeake Energy, according to Lunsford.
