The Granbury football team and opponents will enjoy a new Johnny Perkins Field at Pirate Stadium. The school board voted to install synthetic turf, the first time ever for the grass field, which opened in 1974. An artist’s drawing shows how the new field will look, featuring a G logo inside the state of Texas at midfield. End zones will have the school colors – purple with gold lettering. The cost is about $850,000, but out-of-pocket expense will be about $415,000 because of a new energy conservation program, school officials said. Construction will start about May 1 with completion in late July or early August. Home stands are at the bottom of the drawing .
