Former Cresson man dies in crash on 377

January 15, 2014

A 31-year-old former Cresson resident died early Friday evening at the scene of a two-vehicle accident on Highway 377 in the western part of Cresson.

Aaron Ray Richeson, whose family lives in the Cresson area, had been living in San Marcos. He was pronounced dead by Hood County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Martin Castillo.

The Chevrolet pickup Richeson was driving struck the rear bumper of an 18-wheel water transport truck. The truck was making a right turn onto Red Rock Road when the accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. Both vehicles were eastbound.

First responders had to use a metal-cutting tool to free Richeson’s body from the pickup.

A DPS trooper at the scene investigating the crash said that no skid marks were found.

The trooper said the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but the trooper said that he had no reason to believe that alcohol was a contributing factor. No other vehicles were reported to have been involved in the crash.

Richeson’s body was taken to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office in Fort Worth for an autopsy.
