Driver given probation for intoxication assault

October 5, 2013

A 24-year-old resident of Oak Trail Shores on Sept. 24 was given a 10-year probated sentence after a jury found him guilty of intoxication assault, District Attorney Rob Christian said.

Christian said that on Oct. 31, 2012, Nettles had been at a Fort Worth bar and drank about five pints of beer and consumed an anti-anxiety medication. A collision occurred on Pearl Street when he was trying to drive home.

“The driver of the other vehicle suffered severe bruising and a broken leg,” Christian said. “Though the victim made a complete recovery, she explained her difficult and painful rehabilitation to the jury.”

Judge Ralph Walton ordered the most extensive alcohol and substance abuse treatment available as a condition of probation, Christian said.
