County dismisses elections administrator

The Hood County Commissioners Court voted unanimously Tuesday to dismiss Elections Administrator Lois Joplin.

The action came after a closed session meeting, and was in line with a similar vote taken by the Elections Board late last week.

County Judge Darrell Cockerham said that four of the board’s five members had voted in favor of replacing Joplin.

No reason was stated publicly for the dismissal.

Cockerham said that he will move quickly to have the position posted on a ListServe for elections administrators.

He said that the Elections Board will interview qualified candidates.
