‘Beau Fest’ to promote motorcycle awareness

October 12, 2013

The family of Hood County resident Beau Nichols, who died Oct. 11, 2012 at age 31 when the motorcycle he was driving was struck by a car on Mambrino Highway, is staging the “First Annual Beau Fest” today to raise money to promote motorcycle awareness.

The BYOB event, set to start at 11 a.m. and end at midnight at Saddleback Barbeque, 3636 Highway 377 West, will include performances by two live bands, each featuring Beau’s father.

There is no admission charge, but donations are welcome. Beau’s mother, Darlene Franks, said the event is all about “giving back to the community to promote awareness so that someone else doesn’t have to lose a loved one.” Donations will go to the “Share the Road” sign program and for educational materials promoting the topic of motorcycle awareness.
