It’s all about the brotherhood and the badge.
Numerous deputies and police officers from surrounding counties came to patrol Hood County so that those who worked with fallen Sergeant Lance McLean could attend his memorial service Tuesday in Hico.
McLean, 38, died last Saturday as a result of a June 28 gunshot wound suffered while responding to a criminal trespass call at Oak Trail Shores.
Deputies from Somervell County were the first to show up, according to Hood County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Johnny Rose.
The Somervell deputies later were joined on the roadways by deputies from Wise, Erath, Johnson, Parker, Palo Pinto and Ellis counties as part of an interagency agreement already in place. Also, two police officers from Cleburne assisted in the county, for a total of about 20.
Seven officers were sent by Stephenville Police Chief Pat Bridges to cover the city patrol beats during the service.
