William E. “Bill” Baker of Nemo, 82, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013, in Nemo.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose. Burial: Squaw Creek Cemetery in Rainbow. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Baker was born Aug. 21, 1930, in Philadelphia, Pa., to William and Emma Kellenbenz Baker. He married Mildred J. Kemp, Sept. 11, 1982, in Rainbow.
Bill was a U.S. Army veteran, and was a POW held in North Korea during the Korean War.
He worked for Brown & Root on Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Station and in Saudi Arabia. Bill took care of his family and enjoyed woodworking.
He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association, fund raising for Homes For Our Troops, and the Texas Military Family Foundation. He was known as Grandpa Baker to Fort Hood soldiers.
Preceding him in death were his parents, son, William Baker, and sister, Kathleen Wickberg.
Survivors: Wife, Mildred J. Baker of Nemo; sons, Jim Baker and wife, Donna, of Granbury, Richard Baker of Tolar; daughters, Johanna Heppler and husband, Tom of Nemo, Donna Martino and husband, Douglas of Nemo, Michelle Oncay and husband, Jeff, of Palmerton, Pa.; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and sister, June Stowell of Florida.
