Tomasa H. Garces of Granbury, 84, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 in Granbury.
Service: 10 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Weslaco. Burial: Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery in Mercedes, Texas. Visitation; 6-9 p.m., Monday, March 25, 2013 at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Garcia and Trevino Funeral Home in Mercedes.
Tomasa was born Dec. 21, 1928 in San Louis, Potassium, Mexico to Antonio Hernandez and Maria Cruz Munoz Hernandez. she married Cornelio Perez Garces on March 21, 1948 in Mercedes.
She liked to sew, crochet, word puzzles, gardening, reading the scriptures and she was a strong in her faith. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a peacemaker who never met a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1967, sons, Rey Garces, Tony Garces Sr., Sgt. Armando Garces and Juan Jose Garces.
Survivors: children, Maria Garces Rincon and husband Rudy, Roy Garces, and Elia Garces, grandchildren, Carla Schmitt, Tony Jr. Garces, Jacenda Williams, Phil Garces, Sgt. Steven C. Rincon, Bianca R. Rincon, Sandra L. Wright, Eric Garces, Rey Garces, Carlos Garces and Alex Garces; 11 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Rita Garcia, Molly Sierra, Marcos Hernandez, Robert Munoz and Tony Munoz; daughters-in-law, Imelda Garces and Elsa Garces, extended family members, many friends, church family and her beloved dog “Shorty.”
