Thomas Burks Jasper of Granbury, 92, passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013. He was born to Thomas Bates Jasper and Bonnie Mable Burks Jasper on Feb. 24, 1921 in Wylie County, Texas, near Abilene, the second oldest of four children. He was raised in the area in which he was born.
He married Winona L. Foster on May 8, 1942 in Yuma, Ariz. after a short six month courtship in the Redondo Beach area of California. They resided in various cities of California where they had their three children, Jimmy Albert Jasper, Glenda Gail Jasper and Cheryl Jean Jasper.
Tom was a loving father and husband, always working very hard to provide for his family. When he and Winona married he worked in the shipyards in California and then was drafted out of Abilene to go into the Army, upon which he decided to enlist in the Navy.
When he got out of the Navy in 1945 he worked at various jobs to support his family. He became a field service engineer in the aircraft industry and moved to various locations in California, New Mexico and Texas. He became a real estate broker in Ruidoso, New Mexico and was always a part-time home remodeler/builder. He retired in February 1986 and moved to Granbury in order to be closer to his aging mom and youngest married daughter’s family.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother, father, two sisters, brother, two nephews, one grandson and his wife of 71 years, Winona, who passed away Aug. 26, 2013.
He is survived his son, Jimmy and wife, Pat of Toronto, Canada; his daughter, Glenda Donathan of Alamogordo, N.M.; his daughter, Cheryl Murray and husband, Bob of Granbury, Texas; five grandchildren, Todd, Jenny and David Jasper; Brett Donathan, Robbin Murray Franklin; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no service at this time. Cremation by Neptune Society.
