Roger Lane Shelton of Granbury, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 26, 2013, surrounded by family.
Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, at Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes. Interment: 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, in Hico Cemetery in Hico.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 29, at Laurel Land Funeral Home.
Roger was born Sept. 21, 1940, in Pecos to Charles Wesley and Katherine Randals Shelton. He was proud to be a United States Marine and attended Texas Christian University. He was a member of the Fort Worth Masonic Lodge, a Shriner and member of the Scottish Rite. He started his career with his father in the industrial refrigeration industry and continued in that field until his retirement in 2005.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Randy; and his mother-in-law, Juanita Nixon.
Survivors: Loving wife of 36 years, Nita Shelton of Granbury; daughters, Melissa Smith and husband, Shawn, of Fort Worth, Lane Ann Simmons and husband, Jeff, of Fort Worth; sons, Wesley Shelton and wife, Celicia, of Granbury, Randy Shelton of Granbury; sisters, Sue McMurray and husband, Al, of Fort Worth, Margaret Shuping of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Sanger, Summer and Sophie Smith, John Paul, Maggie, Lily and AJ Simmons, and Jade and Coral Shelton; father-in-law, Robert Nixon of Waco; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
