Oben Kenneth House went to heaven on July 26, 2013 at his home in Glen Rose. Oben (Ken) was born April 22, 1928 in Indianola, Okla. He was 85 years old.
Oben was the oldest son of 10 children born to William Oliver and Lula Mae House. His brothers and sisters are Wanda Haley, Charles House (deceased), Curtis House, Zelma Pitts, Eldon House, Lynn House (deceased), Dale House, and the twins, Athel House and Ethel Johnson.
Oben married Ramona Fern High in 1954. She preceded him in death in 1994. He leaves behind two adopted daughters; Anna Young and Diana House. Ken and Ramona had three children Raymond House, Kathy Harmon (deceased) and Linda Steinberger.
Many great summers were spent camping, skiing and fishing with his wife and children. Oben has nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Oben retired from JM in 1983 after 30 years. He served as secretary – treasurer for the International Chemical Workers Union Local 146. After moving to Glen Rose in 1985, he worked on his small ranch and for others as a ranch hand. Ken was a member of the Tolar Church of Christ.
Oben joined the Army in 1946. He served in Korea and Japan for six years.
