Jerry P. Bowden of Granbury, 78, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, in Granbury.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at Wiley Funeral Home. Interment: Granbury Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at the funeral home.
Mr. Bowden was born Sept. 1, 1934, in Hobbs, N.M., to Cecil Elmo “Dutch” Bowden and Bessie Cordell Payne Bowden. Jerry grew up and graduated from high school in Andrews. He served in the U.S. Army in the Canal Zone of Panama.
He married Alpha Lee Williams on Dec. 18, 1968, in Dallas. He lived in Arlington with his family for 40 years and in Granbury for the past 10 years. He attended Southside Baptist Church.
He enjoyed playing western swing on his fiddle at VFW halls and nursing homes for many years. He retired from General Motors in Arlington after 36 years and was a farmer/rancher in his spare time. He loved to fish and enjoyed his grandkids.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Charles Bowden.
Survivors: Wife, Lee Bowden; children, April Brenning and husband, Shawn, Larry O’Neal and wife, Terry, and Lecia O’Neal; grandchildren, Larry and Becca O’Neal, Michael and Misty O’Neal, Brooke Browning, Leslie Browning, Jonathan Browning, Shannon Brenning and Mandy Brenning; great-grandchildren, Maddie, Riley, Embry, Sadie and Weldon; brother, Roy Bruce Bowden and wife, Mary; and nephews, Charlie, Wayne and Paul.
