James “Oscar” Stembridge of Granbury, 80, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, in Mesquite.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at Wiley Funeral Home. Burial: Granbury Cemetery. Visitation: 10 a.m. – noon Monday, May 20, at the funeral home.
Stembridge was born Aug. 20, 1932, in Bluff Dale, to Lonnie E. and Ethel Morris Stembridge. He married Edna Hopper, Sept. 27, 1955, in Fort Worth. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
Oscar worked for Brown & Root Construction at the Comanche Peak nuclear plant as a welding inspector. He retired as a maintenance man for a company in Fort Worth. He had lived in Granbury since 1972 and was a member of 1st Assembly of God Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two sons, Eldon and Floyd, two brothers, Edwin and Wayland, and a sister, Patsy.
Survivors: Wife, Edna Stembridge of Mesquite; sons, Larry M. Stembridge and wife, Mary Alice, of Sunny Vale, Mike Stembridge and wife, Kathy, of Fort Worth; daughter, Sue Bearden of Garland; daughter-in-law, Sheryl Stembridge; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and brother, Eldon “Gus” Stembridge and wife, Virginia, of Granbury.
