George O. Sobota Jr., born December 12, 1928, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 6, 2013.
He was born in El Paso, and lived in Granbury for the past 22 years.
George served in both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy during the WWII and Korean wars.
He retired as a detective for the L.A. Police Department in the West Hollywood division, and also worked in the Van Nuys division. His career continued with Identify Fraud investigations for several international banks.
He was a graduate of Keene Adventist Academy in 1946.
George was very active in Hood County politics and he attended Acton Baptist Church for the past several years.
He is survived by his son, Kim Sobota and wife Lorraine and their daughters Brianna and Jessica Sobota from Houston and son Keith Sobota. His daughter is Teri Biggars and her husband Bob along with daughters Courtney and Caitlin and son Cody from Dewitt, Michigan.
George is also survived by his brother Ed Sobota and wife Julie Sobota from Conifer, Colorado along with their son Jes Sobota and daughter Jacki Miller. He was also surrounded by many cousins from around the world who loved him through his struggle with ALS.
George was well known for his water color paintings and woodwork. He also created stained glass windows.
George was loved by a multitude of friends and caregivers who will greatly miss him.
