Edmee Rae ‘E.D.’ Johnson

Edmee Rae “E.D.” Johnson, 90, of Granbury and formerly of Throckmorton, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at Courtyards at Lake Granbury Assisted Living in Granbury.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at Elbert Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Light officiating. Interment: Elbert Cemetery.

Edmee Rae Verner was born Oct. 14, 1922 in Meadow to Bernice (Lidia) and Rev. H.C. Verner. E.D. is a graduate of Throckmorton High School. She married John W. Johnson on May 22, 1941. Mr. Johnson preceded “E.D.” in death in January of 2006 after 64 1/2 years of marriage.

Mrs. Johnson worked for the Throckmorton ISD as the secretary/bookkeeper for 30 years. John and “E.D.” lived and farmed in Elbert community and were active members of the Elbert Baptist Church. In 2001, they moved to Granbury, Texas to be near family.

As well as her husband, E.D. is preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Rev. H.C. Verner.

Those left to honor her memory are her two sons, Rhett H. Johnson and wife Sharon, and Vannie Cy Johnson and wife Margie; daughter, Ricky Lee Curtis; grandchildren, Heath and Pam Carnes, Michelle and Jason Francis, Kimberley and Brian Wooley, Steven and Elaine Kosta; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Christine Weinburg, Bobbie Reid, and Theona Underwood.
