D.J. Kinson of Tolar, 86, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 in Tolar.
Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury. Burial: Tolar Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials: American Heart Association, Diabetes Association or charity of choice.
D.J. was born June 29, 1927, in Tarrant County to Jack E. and Vina Whitworth Kinson. He graduated from Tolar High School in 1945 and was a member of Tolar First Baptist Church.
D.J. was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps. After returning from the military, he attended Tarleton College where he met and married Greta Jo Bradley, his wife of 48 years. In the community, he served on the school board and was a founding member of the Hood County Livestock Raisers Association. He retired from the Texas Highway Department and worked for Seymour Construction.
He spent his life in the Tolar area and his mission in life was to be a farmer. He loved horses, cattle and peanut farming. He raised two daughters.
D.J. was preceded in death by his parents and his wife on Nov. 24, 1998.
Survivors: Daughters, Karin Kinson Dahmann and husband, Doyle of Brenham and Karla Kinson Coggins and husband, Bob of Tolar; his pride and joy of his life, his only grandchild, J.D. Coggins; cousins, nieces and many friends.
