Brenda Walton Sharpe, 73, passed away Sept. 14, 2013, at her home in Granbury after a short battle with cancer.
She was born on July 25, 1940 in Stephenville to John Vernon “Buster” Walton and Marie Evelyn Bean. Brenda attended Dublin High School and Texarkana College.
In Texarkana, she worked as a secretary at Cooper Tire, before opening “I Do” Weddings and Catering in 1983. After retiring to Granbury in 1996, she worked as a florist in Acton for several years.
Her hobbies include traveling, oil painting, daily crosswords, and watching the Texas Rangers.
Brenda married Dwight Sharpe on Sept. 1, 1957 in Dublin. They were happily married for 56 years. Brenda was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Ronald Young and one half-sister, Judy Walton.
Brenda is survived by her spouse, Dwight of Granbury, one daughter, Pamela (Allen) Goetz of Granbury, and two sons, Alan (Stephanie) Sharpe of Fort Worth, and Christopher (Dana) Sharpe of Texarkana, Ark.; two foster siblings, Ronald Young of Waco, and Melissa Young of Hermleigh; one sister, Jeanette Barnett of Brownfield; one half-sister, Sue Manning of San Angelo,, and five half-brothers: Charles Walton, Gary Walton of Brownwood, Jonny, Jimmy and Freddie Walton of San Angelo; seven grandchildren: Jeremy McMillan of Watauga; Megan and Hannah Goetz of Granbury, Christian and Jesse Sharpe of Lockesburg, Ark., and Joshua Sharpe and Christian Stewart of Texarkana, Ark.; and one great-granddaughter: Janie Moore of Lockesburg, Ark.
The funeral service will be held at Granbury Church of Christ: Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013 at 1 p.m., and the visitation at Wiley’s Funeral Home: 6 – 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will follow at Lower Greens Creek Cemetery in Erath County.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Granbury Christian Service Center: 1903 W. Pearl, Granbury, Texas 76048.
