Bobbie Jordan, a longtime Hood County resident and former CEO of the Granbury Chamber of Commerce, died Friday morning at her home in Western Massachusetts, where she had moved last October. Born in Comanche on October 4, 1933, she was 79 and a sixth-generation Texan. During her years with the Chamber from 1974 to 1989, Ms. Jordan was actively involved in Granbury’s historic-restoration movement, worked with other community leaders to develop tourism as one of the City’s most important industries and, as ambassador for the Texas Main Street Project, helped make Granbury one of its leading success stories. After leaving the Chamber, Ms. Jordan served for four years as the General Manager of Texas Amphitheatre in Glen Rose then returned to Granbury as the Executive Director of The Chrysalis Foundation in 1993. Ms. Jordan is survived by her four children, William, Robert, Lou Anne, and James Jordan; one grandchild, Shannon Thomas; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service in Granbury is planned for the spring.
