TxDOT: Start of 144 resurfacing moved up

March 22, 2014

The time frame for resurfacing Glen Rose Highway between Glen Rose and Granbury has changed once more, and the work was expected to start yesterday near Glen Rose.

That’s according to TxDOT Information Officer Natalie Galindo, announcing Wednesday the latest schedule change made by the contractor.

The projected finish is now 2-1/2 weeks away instead of just three days.

Where the highway is only two lanes, a pilot car will be used to take turns escorting cars on the one remaining lane.

It’s unknown exactly when the resurfacing will progress into Hood County and Granbury, Galindo said.

The work will be done from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. until it is within 1-1/2 miles of Granbury, Galindo noted. At that point the work will be at night, from 7 p.m.-5 a.m. Work may continue even on Saturday until the project is complete, weather permitting.

Striping should be added the week after the asphalt work is completed, according to Galindo.
