The Granbury Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting and dedication last week commemorating the children’s area at the Jim Burks Firefighters Memorial Park near the hike and bike trail and Travis Street. Recent improvements include a covered area over the unique fire engine playground equipment, providing shade from the hot summer sun and protection from the elements. From left: J.C Campbell, Lula Pope (Granbury Chamber), Aaron McLain (city of Granbury), Julia Pannell, Bob Pannell, Mike Gilbert (Granbury Optimist Club) and John Mears of the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department. The benefactors recognized on the plaque were the city of Granbury, Bob Pannell, Larry and Patti Shafer, Signature Kids and The Inge Foundation, many of whom were in attendance. The project committee members included Aaron McLain with the City Parks and Recreation Dept., Ron Berryman, J.C. Campbell and Julia Pannell.
