Granbury High School’s Teen Court team will compete today against representatives from schools all over Texas.
Rodney Casey, Hood County Substance Abuse Council coordinator, said that six to eight GHS students will participate in the event at Texas Wesleyan Law Center in Fort Worth. It’s set to start at 8:30 a.m. and continue all day, Casey said.
Trophies will be awarded in the double-elimination competition to the teams that place first through third. Texas Wesleyan law students will serve as judges, with competitors acting as attorneys and jurors in actual Class C misdemeanor cases involving juveniles.
“I think our kids will do well,” Casey said. “This is the first time we’ve competed.”
The GHS Teen Court was established in October 2011.
