The Hood County chapter of the American Red Cross received this new 4-cylinder Ford Transit Connect truck on Monday to replace a van that was 18 years old, according to Red Cross Regional District Transportation Manager Tom Elliott. Several new vehicles were bought for the fleet of vehicles in the North Texas Region by the Dallas office, paid for by the American Red Cross. The van for Hood County will accommodate a crew of two, with space in back for emergency response items such as blankets, water, hygiene kits and a small first aid kit, Elliott said. Ray Fishencord of the local chapter said the van’s primary use will be for responding to house fires.
