A 61-year-old Hood County man is accused of two separate counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact, according to District Attorney Rob Christian.

James J. Vandam, of the 1600 block of Island Village Court in the Island Village Estates subdivision southeast of Granbury, was arrested on April 20 on the first charge of indecency by Robert Young, an investigator for the D.A.’s Office.

“Earlier that day, Investigator Young interviewed a victim who reported that Vandam had sexually molested him years ago,” Christian said, noting that the interview was recorded. “On April 23, Investigator Young interviewed another victim, who reported that Vandam also molested him years ago.”

The second charge was brought against Vandam on Thursday.

Christian said that both victims had been family friends of Vandam.

Vandam could face up to 20 years in prison on each of the second-degree felony counts, Christian said.

He added that Young’s investigation into Vadam is continuing.
