A domestic dispute between a 24-year-old Lake Granbury Estates man and his girlfriend resulted in his arrest after he was accused of choking the woman, Hood County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Johnny Rose said.

John David Cunningham was arrested by deputies at about 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 1 at his residence in the 4700 block of Peachtree Street, Rose said.

The 911 call came from a residence on Hilltop Road, where the 23-year-old woman had gone to get help, according to the lieutenant.

“Cunningham, who was drinking, allegedly used his hands to choke (the girlfriend) during an argument they were having at their home,” Rose stated. “The victim was not seriously injured during the assault.”

Cunningham was charged with a felony count of family violence assault/choking. He remained in the Hood County Jail as of press time with a bond set at $20,000.
