The six law enforcement officers who likely saved civilians when they brought down a suspect by the town square last June were honored at Tuesday night’s regular meeting of the Granbury City Council with standing ovations and medals of valor.
Granbury Police Chief Mitch Galvan made the presentations to Granbury police officers Garrett Wiginton and Chad Davis, as well as Sheriff Roger Deeds, Lt. Lynn McDonald, Lt. Johnny Rose and DPS State Trooper Thomas Anderson.
Davis, who was shot twice, walked on crutches to accept the medal of valor as well as a Purple Heart.
The shootout occurred minutes after the suspect mortally wounded Deputy Sgt. Lance McLean at Oak Trail Shores.
Galvan said the men displayed “incredible courage” when they “held their ground” in the face of the heavily armed suspect.
