A pedestrian hospitalized Feb. 10 after an incident involving a vehicle finally was able to give a statement after she was released four days later from John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
The case is now considered a possible failure to render aid offense according to the DPS trooper investigating.
Patty Jean Germany, 48, a resident of Oak Trail Shores, first was believed to have been a victim of a hit-and-run. But even after the interview, the facts of what happened weren’t clear.
Trooper Randall Wilson said the facts remain “sketchy,” but apparently the woman had asked someone driving a pickup for a ride as she was walking on Oak Wood Street, near the intersection with West Oak Trail. The woman indicated that the man agreed but changed his mind after she started to climb into the passenger side.
The pickup took off, leading to her falling out onto the pavement, the trooper said. The pickup then reportedly ran over one of her legs. The woman said she was not pushed from the pickup, which is believed to have been an extended cab.
Anyone who may have more information on the incident, which occurred early that afternoon, should call the DPS Office in Granbury at 817-579-3337.
