The public is invited to a hazard mitigation planning meeting Thursday morning that will include not only county representatives but also those from the city of Granbury, the Brazos River Authority and Cresson.
Representatives from businesses, nonprofit groups and neighboring jurisdictions are welcome to attend.
The meeting could “open some doors for some possible grant money,“ Hood County Assistant Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Young said.
The starting time is 9 a.m. on Aug. 22, in Annex I, 1410 W. Pearl St. in Granbury.
“We’re trying to find any kind of potential hazard, and pre-plan before it becomes an issue,” Young said.
Young cited a low-water crossing as one example – a problem that could potentially be solved by building a bridge or improving drainage in that location.
“Any kind of natural or potential man-made hazard is what we’re going to mitigate,” Young said.
