A firefighter picks up a car wheel found after the impact of the Toyota Corolla pictured, which sustained major damage crashing into several vehicles stopped at a red light on Glen Rose Highway shortly before noon on May 8. The 48-year-old driver of the Toyota, Roger Ford of Arlington, was flown by air ambulance from the scene at the Mambrino Highway intersection, to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth. Ford was pronounced dead on Tuesday while still in the hospital. A source said that Ford remained in the trauma unit on life support for a week before his death. Four other vehicles sustained damage – a Chevrolet C4500 truck pulling the eight-wheel trailer (pictured), a four-door Saturn, a Chevrolet Suburban and a Buick Century. None of the other occupants needed medical treatment. The Suburban and the Century had minor damage, and did not need to be towed. Read more in story, P. 1A.
