Former football star arrested in drug sweep

November 23, 2013

A 32-year-old man with a Granbury address was taken into federal custody last week in Stephenville during a roundup of people accused of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

Cody Daniel Cardwell, who was on Stephenville’s 1999 Class 4A state championship football team and was one of 32 people arrested during the drug sweep, had a 2010 Hood County arrest on his record – possession of a controlled substance, more than 1 gram/less than 4 grams. Cardwell’s residence is listed as South Hannaford Street in Granbury.

Hood County reportedly was among 10 counties mentioned in the criminal complaint as being one of the areas where the suspects were allegedly distributing meth.
