With the tagline, “Where Creativity Happens,” the new Michaels store at Luton Ranch shopping center on Highway 377 East celebrates its grand opening Sunday.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 9:45 a.m., and doors open at 10 a.m.
Michaels, North America’s largest arts and crafts specialty retailer, plans valuable prize giveaways, craft demos and kids crafts for the celebration.
“Michaels will be good for the market because it fills a void and will bring additional traffic to that Luton Ranch intersection,” said Joey Grisham, head of the Lake Granbury Area Economic Development Corporation. “I think they’ll do well.”
Michaels will be giving away more than $1,000 in gift cards to the first 100 customers in line as well as prizes hourly throughout the day, valued up to $250. In addition, customers can win items for the family from the prize wheel, which includes jewelry, art supplies, stickers, colorful Duck® tape and more.
The celebration continues through the week with gift basket giveaways each evening, and kids can explore their creativity with $2 kids crafting events on Saturdays.
“We are thrilled to be joining the Granbury community, and we hope everyone will come out to help us celebrate during our grand opening week,” store manager Jayson Leyman said. “Our new store features thousands of products that will inspire every crafter at any level from beginner to expert, plus classes for our customers to learn new skills in painting, cake decorating, knitting, scrapbooking and more.”
The new store is about 13,810 square feet and will employ more than 60 people.
Michaels is located at 3906 Highway 377. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
