Champ’s first year to show heifer

Lipan FFA members were awarded top honors in Friday’s Hood County Heifer Show.
It was Tallen Halliday’s first year to show a heifer. She made the right choice, winning grand champion honors.
The 16-year-old Lipan High junior said she’s raised rabbits and lambs and placed high, but never won a grand championship until now.
“She’s been good,” Halliday said about her Limousin heifer. “I did a lot of washing and tried to get her hair to grow.”
RESERVE CHAMP
Trevor Hedeman, 17, also a Lipan junior, has made an impression at the county show. He showed the grand champion heifer last year and the same one took reserve grand champion honors this year.
Hedeman enjoys showing animals, but he excels at team roping.
