Not everyone is obsessed with “me, me, me” – at least not Sara Hale.
The Tolar girl was having a party for her 12th birthday last week, but as it turned out it wasn’t all about her. Sara had an idea that showed she was thinking outside the box.
Sara asked the 37 friends invited to her party to buy items to donate to Hood County’s Animal Control facility.
They bought dog and cat food along with pet toys, and the items were delivered on Sept. 24, according to Animal Control Sergeant Charles Monroe.
“There was lots of food and some toys,” Monroe said, although he did not have an accurate count of how many bags of food were donated. “There were at least five big bags – 20-25 pounds – and a lot of 5- or 10-pound bags.
“It will be real useful. We would like to let them know how grateful we are. Her and her friends showed what outstanding young people they were, and that they are future leaders of the community.
“Everybody here wants to say they’re proud of Sara and the other youth that were involved.”
