A tough Monday


Granbury Police officers (above) set up traffic cones as they block off an area near a hunt for a suspect around the Spansh Trail Drive area Monday morning. One man and one woman were taken into custody following the incident. A male suspect who law enforcement officials said was fleeing in a Nissan pickup after firing a rifle in the direction of a police officer and a patrol deputy before dawn Monday morning got out of the vehicle and ended up trying to hide near a creek bed after the pickup struck a cedar tree and was stopped by this heavy stone (right) in the backyard of a nearby residence on Spanish Trail Court. The male suspect climbed over two fences, but reportedly injured a leg when he slid about 20 feet down a cliff to the creek area after clearing the second fence. He was taken into custody shortly after 7 a.m. Monday to face multiple charges after receiving medical treatment at the hospital. See story, P. 1A.
