“The stars at night were big and bright” on Saturday, May 11, 2013. The Miles Ranch was the setting for an engagement party for Russ Eichler and Lizanne Cornelius that became a surprise wedding. Rev. Dawn Phillips performed the double ring ceremony.
Lizanne Cornelius is the daughter of Dub and Melissa Cornelius. Russ is the son of Jerry and Brigitte Eichler.
A barbecue dinner was catered for the guests followed by the bride and groom having the first piece of their wedding cake. The cake was a square creation of fondant icing with corners of chocolate brown hand tooled icing to resemble leather like a saddle. Each layer consisted of a different flavor. Adorning the top layer was a pewter statue of a bride and groom on horseback.
Guests were seated at round tables draped with sand colored suede cloths. Each table had an arrangement of white daisies and baby’s breath in real cowboy boots accented by lanterns. Music for dancing was provided by The High Rollers.
Russ and Lizanne are both graduates of Granbury High School. Russ graduated from Texas Christian University in 2008. Lizanne graduated from Texas State University in 2009.
Attending the couple for the ceremony were their good friends. Brittany Scott Dansereau was matron of honor and Jared Green was best man.
Joining the couple for their happy occasion were the bride’s grandparents, John and Diane Miles, who hosted the wedding. Also, Lizanne’s Aunt Sharon Tracey was attending from Wisconsin.
Russ had many family members present including his maternal grandmother, Jimmie Hughes, and paternal grandparents, Jo Dell and Glenn Barton and Don Eichler.
Russ and Lizanne will honeymoon at a later date in Austria on the ski slopes.
