Kathy Yoders took first place at the March Lake Granbury Art Association (LGAA) meeting with her pastel named “Deep Purple.”
She said the piece was started in a James Spurlock workshop, where she learned to layer pastels and use those weird colors that come in the set (hot pink). “Deep Purple” came from the color that creates the ravines of the mountains.
Pastels have become her favorite medium and learning new techniques enhances the depth and distances within the painting. Her art is a continuing journey shared with many Granbury artists.
Yoders’ work is displayed at the Community Bank on Morgan Street.
LGAA has monthly meetings on the second Monday of each month; everyone is invited to come see an interesting demonstration.
