The Granbury Theatre Company is looking for a dozen angry men.
Actually, they don’t have to be angry – until they get onstage.
Auditions for the production of “Twelve Angry Men” will be Saturday by appointment only.
The show opens Friday, March 8 and runs through Saturday, March 30 with evening performances Thursday through Saturday and Saturday matinees.
The show features a jury of 12 men who have just finished hearing six days of trial proceedings. A 19-year-old man is on trial for the murder of his father.
The defendant has a criminal record and a lot of circumstantial evidence piled against him. If found guilty, he would receive a mandatory death penalty.
The jury is sent to a hot, crowded room to deliberate and before any formal discussion they cast a vote. Eleven vote guilty, but Jurror No. 8 is the protagonist and votes not guilty.
Tempers flare and arguments begin. Meanwhile, the audience learns about each member of the jury.
Auditioners are asked to bring a one-minute monologue. They will also be asked to read cold from selected portions of the script provided at the audition.
Each auditioner should plan to spend about 15 minutes with the director. If necessary, a callback audition will be held Tuesday from 7-10 p.m.
