The annual Rio Brazos Star Party at Acton Nature Center has been set for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and stargazers and astronomy fans can continue to search the sky until 11 p.m. In case of cloudy skies, the backup date is set for Friday, Sept. 13.
The annual event is free and hosted by the Rio Brazos Master Naturalists has become a popular activity over the years for many.
The evening will start off with a guest speaker at 7:30 under the pavilion adjacent to the parking lot. After the speaker there will be a short walk to the farmhouse where telescopes will be set up and guides to help attendees navigate the sky.
For your comfort take blankets or chairs, bug spray, and plenty water to drink. If you have your own telescope, bring that too. Restroom are available on site.
