Oakdale Park in Glen Rose was a great setting Saturday for cowboy music, poetry, story telling and reenactments about the cowboy way at the National Day of the Cowboy for North Texas. Family members of the Granbury’s beloved cowboy artist, the late Dan Coates, pause for a quick picture with one of the event organizers, Boots Hubbard. Coates, along with Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds, were honored as top cowboys. Dan’s family (from left) includes brother Don Coates, wife Judy Coates, daughter Courtney Blackman, son Dan Coates and event co-founder, Hubbard.
