The Salvation Army Women’s Service League of Hood County will host a new membership coffee Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. at the deCordova Bend Clubhouse. The meeting is open to members, friends and those interested in joining the group.
Over the past few months, the Service League has been helping with the tornado relief effort in the Rancho Brazos neighborhood, along with numerous other projects.
Food and drinks were distributed to clean up crews at the tornado site, and clothing was purchased and delivered to children who lost everything.
Shoes, socks and underwear was delivered to the schools for distribution.
Gifts cards totaling some $17,000 were given to families in need. Members also helped sorting donations that were given from the community.
Service League members teamed up with the Church of Christ, Mission Granbury, Habitat for Humanity of Hood County and others working on tornado relief.
In June the Service League sponsored four children attending the Salvation Army camp at Camp Hobitzelle.
The annual fundraiser for the Salvation Army Women’s Service League is at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 8 at Harbor Lakes Clubhouse.
Tickets are $30 and includes the luncheon and silent auction. Call 817-559-4828 for tickets.
