New pastor at Acton Methodist

Acton United Methodist Church announces the arrival of a new senior pastor. Rev. Chris Mesa led his first services on Sunday, June 23.

Chris is a native of Dallas, and grew up mostly in the Dallas area, though he did spend some time in the east Texas area as his family situation dictated.

Chris attended Southern Methodist University, where he received the B.A. degree in psychology with a double major in statistics. He was also active in music at SMU, marching in the Mustang Band for four years and playing the saxophone in both jazz and wind ensembles.

From there, Chris went on to seminary at Texas Christian University, receiving the Masters of Divinity degree from Brite Divinity School.

While in seminary, Chris married the former Brenda Jean Wolfgang, a native of central Pennsylvania who came to Texas to attend Texas Wesleyan University. Brenda is an educator and a former band director. She now teaches mathematics and was most recently the Instructional Specialist for Mathematics at Waco High School.

Chris has served churches in Alvarado, Burleson, Garner, Weatherford, Temple, and most recently served as the Senior Pastor of the Austin Avenue United Methodist Church in downtown Waco.

Chris and Brenda have no children, but are parents to two cats, Dexter and Little Tiger. Chris spends his leisure time traveling/watching baseball (he has seen a ballgame in all 30 major league ballparks) and tinkering with his vintage 1969 Jeep.

Chris and Brenda are excited to be a part of the ministry of the Acton United Methodist Church and are happy to be a part of Granbury and Hood County.

Acton United Methodist Church is located at 3433 Fall Creek Highway.
