Lipan fans ready for some basketball

November 2, 2013

Last Monday night, the Lipan Booster Club hosted its annual “Meet the Indians” night at the Lipan Gymnasium.

The varsity and junior varsity girls scrimmaged against Baird, while the Booster Club served free hot dogs and drinks. Following the game, the Lipan basketball teams were introduced to the community. There was a huge crowd of Indian fans to meet the 2013-14 teams.

Joe Bass and fellow musicians play a little bluegrass, gospel, and country music every first Saturday of the month at the Lipan Community Center. Tonight, the music will begin around 6:30 p.m.

Admittance is free, but donations are accepted to cover expenses. Hamburgers and drinks are available for purchase.

I had a chance to visit with Carol (Gregory) Harris this week at her home in Lipan. She has been waiting for an infection in her hip to heal so she can have another hip replacement surgery. Originally, it was thought she might have to wait up to one year for the surgery, but she has had some good news! All of the infection is gone, and it is possible that her hip replacement surgery can occur before the end of the year. Carol has had a very positive attitude during her confinement at home. Your calls, texts, and visits have lifted her spirits tremendously, and she is very thankful for all of your prayers.

On Saturday, Nov. 9, the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of Bea Reynolds will honor her with a 90th birthday party at the Allison Baptist Church fellowship hall. Everyone is invited to come and go between 2 and 4 p.m.

Bea is the wife of Olen Reynolds. Her children are Martha and Johnny Bosley, and Nick and Patsy Reynolds. She has several grand and great-grandchildren. Happy Birthday Mrs. Bea!
