A capacity crowd estimated at 3,500 – including law enforcement officers, medical personnel, friends and family – attended the memorial service Tuesday morning at Tiger Stadium in Hico to honor Hood County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Lance McLean. McLean died last Saturday at age 38 from a gunshot wound suffered in the Oak Trail Shores subdivision. The horrific tragedy cuts deep into the hearts of the community, especially those closest to Sergeant McLean. Pictured during graveside services at Duffau Cemetery are fellow SWAT team members serving as pallbearers. Each member is wearing a red bandana like the one McLean wore during SWAT team drills. McLean would soak the bandana in water to cool off.
