Following the Jewel Ball last Saturday, the Lake Granbury Area Beautification Council is ready to move forward with a restoration project at Shanley Park. Guests enjoyed a masquarade theme at the event.

Board secretary Pam Padget said this year’s funds will be used to refurbish the inoperable waterfall in the park, located near the corner of Rucker and Houston Streets.

The waterfall was originally the dream of past board president Bob Brady. “He designed the project and with the help of volunteers completed the project,” Padget said.

Sadly, the waterfall was knocked out of service some time ago when a large tree fell on it during a storm.

Construction is expected to begin early next year, after the Christmas decorations come down, according to landscape architect Jackie Smith.
