It is the time of year that giving is on the forefront of so many’s minds. The season is about giving gifts to our friends and loved ones.
For many, there is also the feeling of wanting to give back. Maybe they have been in a difficult situation and they want to pay if forward or maybe just a kind heart.
So many have given to others through donating their time, items and financial resources. For instance, Mission Granbury’s Resale Shop, “New Beginnings” has received many items that make it more comfortable for our clients’ daily lives.
An individual, in need or in crisis, is welcomed when they walk through the door. A caseworker assesses their needs. If they require clothing or household items, they are given a voucher to obtain them.
Family violence situations are very complicated, often leaving victims with only the clothes on their back. The items you give truly make a difference.
Any resource donated to the resale shop can go directly back to our clients through our weekly voucher program. Gently used items are selected by clients to help them get back on their feet.
Our resale shop is open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The donations received by the community this year are equivalent to $148,906.59 in goods to our clients. Because of the diligence of the staff we are able to barter with local businesses to stretch every dollar we can. Thank you!
Speaking of giving hearts… we have over 100 volunteers that give in various ways to Mission Granbury and this community.
The auxiliary volunteers for the Ada Carey Center are so essential in obtaining financial support and providing special services for our clients.
The New Beginnings and Food Pantry volunteers are so diligent and dependable every week. They take donations, provide assistance in obtaining food and mostly a friendly face.
Our Resource Center volunteers meet our clients with warmth and assistance. Last, but not least, our board of directors who give of their time as well.
These hours total 10,877.15 with a monetary value of $238,318.36. Thank you for all you do! Wishing a wonderful Christmas to you and your family.
