Lions Club pancake feast Saturday for Projects

The Lions Club annual pancake supper will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hood County Senior Center. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased from any Lions Club member or at the door.

All funds will be used for scholarships for qualifying Hood County senior students and other worthy civic projects of the local Lions Club. Lions Club meets at noon every Tuesday at Spring Creek Barbeque.

Mobile Food Pantry offers food Saturday

The Mobile Food Pantry will be at the Granbury First United Methodist Church distribution site Saturday, March 17 from 9-11:30 a.m. Loaves and Fishes at Lakeside Baptist will be organizing the volunteers this month.

Fresh food distribution through the Tarrant Area Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry takes place on the third Saturday each month at Granbury FUMC, 301 Loop 567. The mobile pantry provides fresh produce and meat that is often not available weekly at the community food pantries in Hood County.

Don’t fret, free tax Help available in Granbury

It’s time to wrap up those 2011 federal income tax returns.

As in years past, free tax preparation and e-filing is available from your local AARP Tax-Aide team. Ron Petersen, the Granbury Tax-Aide coordinator, says last year they helped over 500 local taxpayers.

The service is available by appointment at three locations through April 14.
