‘Eternal Light’ is program of remembrance

“Eternal Life: A Requiem,” by Howard Goodall, will be presented Saturday at 7 p.m. at Acton United Methodist Church, 3433 Fall Creek Highway. All who are mourning the loss of a loved one are encouraged to attend.

Rev. Suzanne Cate will direct the musical ensemble. Cate has served as pastor of music and worship at Acton UMC for the past 13 years. “Eternal Light” will be her final community concert to conduct as part of Music at Acton as she has announced her retirement from full time music ministry at the end of the year.

Soloists include Julie Liston Johnson, soprano; Alex Bumpas, tenor; and Thann Scoggin, baritone. Local vocalists and musicians will also perform.

Many Christian traditions celebrate Nov. 1 as All Saints Day, which is a time for remembering those who have died in the past year.

”Eternal Light:  A Requiem” is called a “requiem for the living, a requiem focusing on interrupted lives,” by composer Howard Goodall.

No tickets will be sold, but an offering will be taken at the door to benefit People Helping People. Child care will be provided and a reception will follow the concert.
