THE CHURCH PURCHASES BUILDING ON THISTLE RIDGE
The 3-year-old Church at Granbury, which will now be known as “The Church on Thistle Ridge,” has purchased the 14,000 square foot building where it has been meeting for the past two years. The building also houses SHAPE Academy, a home school co-op.
The building at 4900 Sonterra Court is located up Smokey Hill Court Road, about one mile from the traffic light on Fall Creek Highway at the entrance to De Cordova Bend Estates. The facility and land was in past years a tennis club and an office complex.
“In our first year as a church we were a nomad congregation, and we met in three different locations,” said C.C. Risenhoover, senior pastor of the church. “We began meeting in our current location around the start of our second year of existence as a church, and our members fell in love with the spectacular view we have from Thistle Ridge. Many people from Acton and Granbury visit the location on weekdays to meditate, pray and soak up the view.
“Led by the Holy Spirit, we have been blessed spiritually, numerically and financially for the past two years at this location … and I’m sure that will continue,” he said.
“SHAPE Academy, which began classes in our facility in late August, will also prosper because together we have an exceptional plan for Christian education. The building and our occupancy of it is a testimony to God and His purposes…and this purchase is just the beginning of a complex that will become a landmark in the area.”
Risenhoover said the name change was merely a formality.
The Church on Thistle Ridge is an autonomous elder-led congregation that supports worldwide missions through the Baptist General Convention of Texas and Paluxy Baptist Association.
