Harbor Lakes Golf Club is now the official site for Granbury Bridge Club’s weekly duplicate games. The games are sanctioned by the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL).
Starting Sept. 16, the games and a light buffet luncheon will take place weekly on Mondays at 11:30 a.m. at Harbor Lakes Clubhouse.
Whether beginner or expert, bridge players are invited to bring a partner and join in for friendly and enjoyable duplicate bridge. Any winners who are members of ACBL (American Contract Bridge League) will be awarded masterpoints.
For those not familiar with duplicate bridge, it is very similar to party/rubber bridge. The major differences are that all the hands are pre-dealt so every partnership, in turn, has to play the same hands – thus, providing a “level field” of play. Also, you play with the same partner for the entire session, and each hand is independently scored (no game legs or rubbers involved).
The Granbury Duplicate Bridge Club previously had been meeting in the guest house of Director ”Fitz” and Darlene Fitzgerald between Acton and Pecan Plantation.
For details, and weekly reservations (no later than 9 a.m. on Mondays), contact Fitzgerald at 817-578-0289.
