The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is coming up Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 16-17 at Acton Nature Center. Master Naturalist Billy Teels and the folks at Acton Nature Center will be on hand to oversee activities for the GBBC.
The counts are open to the public and are performed according to GBBC guidelines. The walks at the nature center will be at 7 a.m. on both Feb. 16 and 17. Each lasts about 2 1/2 hours.
Counts can also be performed by individuals from their backyards and turned into the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology where they will be tallied and analyzed to discern trends or patterns in bird migration.
On Saturday, Feb. 16 Teels will also give a presentation on “Warblers, Butterflies of the Bird World,” at the Acton Library at 10 a.m.
